Typically clients come to me because they want to lose a few pounds and they want to try a different approach. Women have been told for decades that they need to be thin, the focus being on a diet and ‘reducing’. I often ask women to eat more and to shoot for heavier weight on the bar. The difference is that this puts a positive spin on eating and training and subsequently is easier to follow, less soul destroying. I focus on adding muscle to women’s bodies; toned rather than stick thin, feeding rather than crash dieting, resistance rather than endless cardio. It makes women feel empowered, stronger, back in charge, which has so many repercussions in everyday life.
